To empower national Veterinary Services through a voluntary, tailored and country-driven process for understanding strengths and weaknesses, inefficiencies and opportunities for innovation. This, with the purpose to enable Members to take ownership and prioritise improvements of national animal health and veterinary public health system.
The PVS pathway provides a robust mechanism for the continuous improvement of national Veterinary Services based on the alignment to the OIE international standards, through a staged approach using a set of proven methods and tools to evaluate, plan, cost and support the strengthening of national Veterinary Services.
Focused on country-led improvement rather than externally imposed compliance, this capacity-building platform leads to enhanced capacity, governance and management of Veterinary Services and to greater harmonization across countries: a way forward to foster global commitment to improve animal health and welfare and veterinary public health worldwide.
