Monitoring the diversity of breeds allowing to make informed decisions on conservation and sustainable use and development.
DAD-IS is using state of the art technology (Tableau) and providers the user with manifold tools to visualize results. Data are updated each 24 hours with exception of the SDG indicators 2.5.1b and 2.5.2 which are updated according to an internationally agreed calendar.
DAD-IS contains more than 15 000 national breed populations (representing more than 8 800 breeds and about 40 species) from 182 countries. The system enables countries to calculate indicators 2.5.1b and 2.5.2 under SDG2, related to the maintenance of genetic diversity of farmed domesticated animals. Further DAD-IS allows countries to calculate results indicators for monitoring the impacts of implementing the Global Plan of Action.
